To apply for a review of a visa application by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) in Australia, follow a structured process.

Firstly, client will receive the original visa decision from the Department of Home Affairs, stating whether application was approved, refused or cancelled. Make sure to check if specific visa decision is eligible for AAT review as per their guidelines and the Australian Migration Act, 1958.

Once client have received the decision, take note of the time limit for applying for AAT review, usually within 21 or 35 days from the date of the original decision. Next, obtain the relevant application form from the AAT’s website or by contacting them directly.

Carefully complete the application form, providing all necessary details about visa application and the reasons for seeking a review. Include any supporting documents that strengthen case for review. When the form is complete, submit it to the AAT within the specified time frame.

Keep in mind that there is an application fee for AAT review If someone is experiencing financial hardship, he/she may be eligible for a fee waiver or reduction.

After submitting your application, the AAT will assess case and may request additional information if needed. If a hearing is required, person will have the opportunity to present case in person or through legal representation. During the hearing, he/she can provide further evidence and arguments to support his/her request for visa decision review.

Finally, the AAT will make a decision on visa application review. They may uphold, change, or set aside the original decision based on the merits of your case. It’s important to note that the AAT’s decision is final and binding.
